Exception Report of ISO/TC 8/SC 6
1. Transfer of the current work items of SC 5
In compliance with Resolution 21 of ISO/TC 8/AG, the meeting for the discussion of this issue was held on April 16, 2002 in Tokyo with the presence of the following concerned persons:
Mr. Mlstrand (Secretariat of SC 5)
Prof. Iijima (Chairman of SC 6)
Mr. Arikawa (Japan Marine Standards Association)
Mr. Takeuchi (Secretariat of SC 6)
Mr. Ogo (Secretariat of TC 8)

The result of the meeting was as follows:
(1) Current Work Items
(a) [05.05] ISO/CD 17899 Marine electric window wipers
Mr. Mlstrand informed that WG convenor of this project was taken over by Mr. Greensmith of BSI/UK and he completed necessary procedures for DIS 17899 vote.
Mr. Mlstrand requested SC 6 to communicate wfth Mr. Greensmith and advance the procedures for DlS vote.
Mr. Ogo advised that SC 6 has to hurry to take actions for DIS vote of this project, as this project is listed on "WI not having advanced for 24 months" by ISO/TMB.
Secretariat of SC 6 will communicate with Mr. Greensmith as soon as possible.
(b)[05.02] ISO/DIS 14612 Ships bridge layout and associated equipment
Mr. Mlstrand and Mr. Ogo briefed the past history and advised that the next action for this project will be to study the comments after closing DIS vote on May 20, 2002.
Mr. Arikawa emphasized that he agreed to take over the administrative procedures of SC 5 at last TC 8/AG meeting in Dominica and SC 6 is not in a position to study technical comments of this project.
Meanwhile, Mr. Mlstrand insisted that this matter should be taken care of by TC 8 as Denmark has already relinquished Chairman, Secretariat of SC 5 and all WG members.
As both parties could not find the solution, SC 6 requests AG to investigate this matter at next AG Meeting.

(2) Possible Proposals for NWIP
(a) SC 5/Possible new work item [05.03]: Electronic generated field of vision
Subject to the approval of TC 8, it was agreed to delete this item from the list by the following reasons:
The revision of IEC 60945, being developed to comply with IMO A694(17), is now in process of IEC/CDV vote and the background of the proposal of this item no longer exists.
(b)SC 5/Possible new work item [05.04]: Watch alarm and transfer systems
It was supposed two years ago that UK will submit the relevant papers to IMO/NAV and SC 5 will investigate this item judging the result of discussion at IMO.
The performance standard of this system was developed by NAV last year and is expected to be approved by MSC/IMO in May 2002.
SC 6 will continue to investigate the contents of the above performance standard and also the necessity of ISO standard.
In the meantime, Porf. Iijima suggested to leave this item to IEC/TC80 as they have appropriate experts to develop this item.
