There was one major oesophageal vocalization workshop conducted by Mr. Shoji Nakamura, Mr. Susumu Hisanaga and Mr. at Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya, Kuala Lumpur. The date was June 2000.

　There was about ten new laryngectomees and five established cases had attended the workshop. There were also five speech therapist and ten medical students had contribute to the workshop.

　The outcome of the workshop the established laryngectomees had improved the oesophageal vocalization and at least five out of ten new cases had acquired skill of oesophageal vocalization. The rest were able to make gargling sound with burgh.

　The frequency of running the clinic for laryngectomees have been increased this year to once per week from once a forth night. The clinic is still conducted under the auspious of University Malaya Medical Center which is formly called University Hospital' Kuala Lumpur.

　This is a new services provided by laryngectomees especially those who have successfully acquired oesophageal vocalization. The successful lalyngectomees give full moral, emotional support to newly diagnosed laryngectomees who either will undergoing operation of the larynx or even to be treated with radiotherapy.

　Year 2000 has no candidate was sent by JICA to Japan from Malaysia. Malaysian Laryngectomees Association wishes Year 2001, JICA will be able to send at least two laryngectomees to Japan to become trainer so that when they return to Malaysia they will be able to become potential trainers.
