Brief Report on Vehicle Classified Traffic Count Surveys and Household Interview Surveys
1 Introduction
For a good preparation to Seminar on Mass Transit Development strategy in Ho Chi Minh City on October 16 2000, Transport Development Research Center (TDSI South) and Japan Transport Cooperation Association (JTCA) agreed that both side together cooperate to support for carrying out the Traffic Survey and Household Transport Interview in small scale to update the data of transportation demand in Ho Chi Minh City.
Count of 20 points along two corridors of estimated metro lines Ben Thanh - Tan Son Nhat and Ben Than - Binh Tay, and household interview.
2 Vehicle Classified Traffic Count Survey
In order to determine vehicle composition and traffic flow on the corridor of estimated Metro Line, a vehicle classified traffic counts were conducted, these traffic counts provided basically means for preview of existing traffic flow, and hence for assessment and future traffic forecast in passenger attractive corridor of Metro Lines.
2.1 Survey Points and Periods
The counts were conducted over 6 peak hour period, including 20 points.
A. 12 points located in Cach Mag Thang Tam and Truong Son Street, where estimated Tam Son Nhat Air Port- Ben Thanh Market Metro Line, and in the parallel with that line streets, promising passenger attraction:
1) Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, Tan Binh district (near house No.108 house, in the north of map)
2) Cong Hoa Street, Tan Binh district (near house No36, in the north of map)
3) Truong Son Street, Tan Binh district (near house No.22, in the north of map)
4) Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, district No.3 (near house No.160, in the middle of map)
5) Tran Quoc Thao street, district No.3 (near house No.120 B, in the middle of map)
6) Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, district No.3 (near house No.294, in the center of map)
7) Cao Thang Street, district No.3 (near house No.58 C, in the center side of map)
8) Cach Mang Thang Tam Street, district No.1 (near house No.16 and 89, in the center of map)
9) Nam Ky khoi Nghia Street, District No.1 (near house No.152, in the center of the map)
10) Pham Ngoc Thanch, district No.1 (near house No.1, in the center of the map)
19) Hat Ba Trung Street, district No.1 (near bus stop, in the center of the map)

B. 8 points located in Tran Hung Dao and Hau Giang Street, where estimated Bin Tay Market - Ben Thanh Market Metro Line, and in the parallel with that line streets, promising passenger attraction:
