Maintenance Tools for Diesel Engines
WAKEFIELD was established in Japan in 1978 and is engaged in the development, design and manufacturing of various types of Grinding and Honing Machines used for maintenance of Diesel Engine components. WAKEFIELD has a vast experience in Cylinder Liner Honing of both 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines as well as in liners for reciprocating compressors.
In the early 1980s honing of cylinder liners for 4-stroke engines became a necessity in order to reduce lubeoil consumption and prevent blow-by of combustion gases. The honing machines available at that time were not designed to remove ovality or produce a proper honing mesh, thus WAKEFIELD commenced to design and manufacture their HMA type Cylinder Liner Honing Machine.
The patented design of the Honing Machine incorporate pneumatic tension applied to the honing stones, i.e, the pressure put onto the honing stones can be adjusted during the actual honing process in order to achieve the optimal honing result. The pressure remains constant, as set, during the operation even though the stones wear down. The design makes it possible to remove ovality in liners and restore the liner surface to a good condition in a relatively short time.
WAKEFIELD also manufactures Exhaust Valve Spindle and Seat Grinders for 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines, Surface Grinders, Wear Edge Grinders and Pocket Grinders.
The latest addition to the range of manufacturing is the Piston Ring Groove Grinder Type PR-WG which was first delivered to the buyer in May 2000.
The semi-automatic machine is electrically operated and has two sets of Grinding spindles enabling both the upper and lower land of the piston ring groove to be ground at the same time.
