Furuno's Integrated Bridge System (IBS) "VOYAGER"
Today, many large oceangoing vessels are equipped with the Integrated Bridge System (IBS). The FURUNO IBS VOYAGER fulfills the requirements by deepsea vessels, complying with IEC, IMO and various Classification Societies. The VOYAGER has been designed to achieve total integration of bridge equipment and information in accordance with the One Man Bridge Operation (OMBO). The core of the system consists of an ARPA (Automatic Radar Plotting Aid) radar, ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System) and Tracking Pilot to realize ANTS (Automatic Navigation and Track-keeping System).
All the functions incorporated into the VOYAGER, including the functions of course setting and voyage planning based on ECDIS, of automatic optimal positioning based on data from GPS, gyroscope and speed log, and of automatic navigation are coordinated in a convenient-to-handle way.
ECDIS for displaying electronic charts is designed to meet the ECDIS standard specifications of the International Maritime Organization/International Hydrographic Organization (IM0/IHO). Besides displaying standard electronic charts (ENC), it can be switched by a simple operation to display ARCS (charts issued by the Royal British Navy).
The external looks of the VOYAGER feature a sober color combination of blue and gray and a soft line finish. The hand rails are arranged on the top for handling case. The soft line finish using real wood adds to the reliable and assuring appearance of the system.
