Aria "Un bel di, Vedremo", ??He tua madre dovra" from "Madame Butterfly" Italian Romantic Opera in 19th century had its golden age with G. Rossini(1792〜1868), V. Bellini(1801〜35), and G. Verdi, and it was Puccini who was the successor both in name and reality to 'Maestro' Verdi. Under the influence of the verismo (life-as-it-really-is school aiming Realism) in 1890', he continued to publish fascinating operas which attracted audiences all over the world with their beautiful melodies and reality. He presented his masterpieces such as "Manon Lescaut" (1898), "La Boheme" (1896), "Tosca" (1900), completed "Madame Butterfly" (1903). The plot is a tragic story: Cio-Cio-San married B.F. Pinkerton, an American officer who enterd the Nagasaki port, and had their baby. Nevertheless, she was left and finally killed herself. This opera is well known for its effective use of various Japanese folk songs. Aria "Un beldi,Vedremo" describes thee feeling while she was waiting for Pinkerton, seeing the sea, "Che tua madre dovra" expresses her sorrow for her poor boy.
Japanese composer, NISHIMURA Akira said of YUN Isang, "A giant star of East". That statement is right in the sence that he was a rare prodigy that settled in Berlin who conveyed a view of unverse, concept of being and the essencial feature of aesthetic in East Asia, using the same western orchestra as in Europe. A professor at Berlin University of Art, he influenced many prominent composers, including HOSOKAWA Toshio, MATSUSHITA Isao. He studied in Tokyo and was sent in the prison for taking part in the movement of independence in North Korea. Yun, undauted, studied hard at Conservatoire of Paris and Berlin Music School after he was released. He attracted much attention as an avantgarde composer in Darmstadt Summer Seminar. However, he was to be in a prison for two more years again. International public opinion claimed his emancipate, thereby enabling him to settle in West Germany. Since then, he had been the leading composer at contemporary music in 20th century and publishing masterpieces. Opera "Sim Tjong" is a theatrical piece with two scenes based on a Chinese Tale, it saw its premiere in Munich in 1972.
Bon-Ho Kim graduated from Dan Kook University (B.A.) and The Ohio State University (M.M.,D.M.A) in composition. He has been awarded in the 30th Dong-Ah Music Competition, the 22nd & 30th Seoul Music Festival, the 14th CMSS Composition Competition, the 5th Pu-San Contemporary Music Festival, the 2nd Han Min Jok Music Festival. His piece was selected in isCM world Music Days 1999 in Rumania as well. At The Ohio State University, he was awarded the Ruth Friscoe Prize in Composition and the Graduate Outstanding Achievement Award, and he was selected as oomposcr-in-residence with The OSU Symphony Orchesrra, Currently, he is a lecturer at DIm Kook University. 'Seo-Kwang (a ray of hope)' for orchesta was composed in 1996-97. 'Seo-Kwang' drew into initial inspiration from a series of tragic events in Korea in 1994-95. The Work reflects both tragedy of those events as well as a hope to see Korea evolve into an ideal nation, and for the catastrophic events of the past not to recur.
