3. Removal of Noxious Liquid Substances
In addition to issuing guidance to owners of vessels to report the occurrence of discharges and other accidents, JCG is instructing the Maritime Disaster Prevention Center to carry out research on removal technologies and the establishment of the system for the implementation of removal measures commissioned by owners of vessels, etc.
4. Response to Fire at Sea
JCG stations fire fighting boats and patrol vessels and craft with firefighting capabilities at Coast Guard Offices and Stations nationwide, and implements measures to combat fire and prevent its spread.
5. Prevention of Disasters at Large-Scale Tanker Berths
In order to prevent the occurrence of accidents during cargo operation at large-scale tanker berths, JCG is giving instruction, such as holding safety meetings before cargo operation, arrangement of equipment and materials for disaster prevention, deployment of watch boats, and others, for berths for oil-tankers of 50,000 dead weight tons and above and berths for liquified gas tankers of 25,000 gross tonnage and above.
