experiences. In addition to teaching esophageal speech, they are good counselors and advisers about everyday life. They readily point out any undesirable tendencies in esophageal speech habits.

Attending speech classes, you will have the opportunity to make friends with many people, some of whom may turn out to be good rivals in improving speech proficiency. You will realize that you are not alone in having a hard time and that everyone is in the same boat. You will come to like the training, and feel what you are living for with the progress you make every day.

If you practice all alone, however, you cannot compare yourself with others. You receive no advise. You cannot evaluate your speech with regard to whether or not you are developing good speech habits. You may tend to feel irritated and depressed.

You may lose interest in practice, and want to give up.

When you become able to converse freely with others using esophageal speech, you will find that you are no longer physically handicapped. You will be able to continue your previous work with confidence together with your ordinary friends.

I recommend that you attend esophageal speech classes in a positive manner, receive training from experienced instructors, become proficient without delay or digression, and regain a new "second voice" of your own.
