You may be surprised how fast some students progress through their own devices.

9. Dealing with Different Levels of Skill

Beginners are bound to include both fast and slow learners.

Students are sensitive to their instructor's attitude, and should be treated on an equal basis. Be careful not to make remarks that may discourage a slow student's efforts, such as "You're a real slow case, aren't you. I wonder if you will ever get it." or "How many times will I have to tell you before you understand?" or "No! That's no good." or "Start all over again, from the beginning!" Discrimination such as this can almost certainly ensure that the criticized will never attend class again.

Never forget: Students start with a tremendous handicap. Overdoing the hard line will only bring grief.

10. Good Posture

Good posture is common to all performances, whether in music, dancing, or any other discipline.

Good posture is also useful in the practice of esophageal speech, but should not be a source of stress.

Straighten up, relax (if you freeze, both your heart and body become rigid.), bend slightly forward, pull in your chin a little, pull in your gut (abdomen), then relax the upper part of your body, especially the neck and shoulders. It is important to relax at the beginning of practice.
