7. This Society is under authorization to inspect the Radio Equipment on board the ships. We will join with Radio Engineer of Radio Service Station under our contract to inspect the Radio Equipment on board the ship when the S/R certificates are applied to issue or renew.
8. The GMDSS system will be fully implemented before Feb. 1, 1999. We have urged the ship owners to implement the GMDSS without awaiting the entry into force of the amendments, Feb. 1, 1999. Preparation and selection of GMDSS equipment for installation on board the ships are essential. At first stage ship's owners are requested to send us the arrangement drawings, outline and specification of GMDSS equipment for our approval and are suggested to install the GMDSS equipment at the period when ships are drydocked or carried out the special survey.
9. We have not compared with the standards between the fire extinguishers for land use and for ship use. So, we can't supply you with the information.
10. The Society has implemented the ISO 9001 since Nov. 1995 in carrying out the ship inspection. But our Harbour Bureau Authority does not incorporate ISO 9000 series in carrying out ship inspection at present.
11. At this moment, we are assisting our government to amend the ship regulations as above-mentioned item 1 due to the change of IMO Regulations/Amendments/Resolutions.
