ALL ABOUT YANMAR
Akihiro Tomita
Yanmar Co., Ltd.

For Harmonious Living with the Global Environment
Our response to the growing environmental problems is a vital global theme for sustaining affluence in the 21st century. We must develop products of ever higher quality and make the most strenuous efforts to reduce atmospheric pollution, prevent global warning and slash engine vibrations, noise and industrial waste.
Yanmar, ever since its foundation, has been developing versatile energy and labor-saving diesel engines through its unique diesel technologies, contributing to the community through energy conservation.
Our ceaseless efforts to produce ever higher quality products were rewarded with ISO9001 certification by Lloyds (LRQA) of Britain for the Large Power Products Operations Division in July 1992, confirming international recognition for the excellent quality assurance system of the plant.
The Large Power Products Operations Division of Yanmar has been a pioneer in tackling environmental problems and in June 1 997, the Amagasaki Plant became the first large industrial and marine diesel engine plant in Japan to be certified under ISO14001. The marine diesel engines produced by the Amagasaki Plant were also the first in Japan to clear the emission (NOx) control regulations of the IMO. The far-sighted efforts and excellent technologies of the Large Power Products Operations Division protect our environment and are highly evaluated in the world.
The Amagasaki Plant of Yanmar aims ti ensure beautiful harmony with the global environment and to contribute widely throughout industry and society to create a better future for all.

Marine Propulsion Diesel Engine
The reputation of Yanmar's marine propulsions is founded on their low fuel consumption and high output. There is a generous range of models from 147 to 3,310kW. They are used everywhere from large fishing vessels for sea trout, salmon, tuna, bonito, squid and trawling to ferries, tourist boats, cargo ships, tankers, pusher barges and tugboats.
The high output, fuel-efficient Yanmar diesel engines can provide many hours of non-overhaul operation, contributing hugely to vessel speed, man power-saving and rational operation.

Marine Auxiliary Diesel Engine
Yanmar diesel generators provide safety at sea, a better onboard environment, fuel saving and the power for automated systems. They have the durability, reliability and fuel efficiency for extended global voyages. Yanmar produces auxiliary use diesels with outputs in the range from 200 to 3,457kW. (generating capacity of 180 to 3,200kW).
Together with having compact and lightweight designs, they are ideal for use in automated power-saving operating systems. Yanmar generators are used everywhere, from all types of coastal work vessel to tankers and other large ocean-going ships, modernizing shipping and reducing energy consumption at sea.

Amagasaki Plant
Yanmar's Amagasaki Plant was founded in 1936 to produce the worlds first small diesel engines. It subsequently converted mainly to the production of large diesel engines, including marine propulsions and auxiliaries, industrial diesels and gas engines. The plant began the production of gas turbines, too, in 1983. Yanmar is proud of its integrated production system, under which all parts of the diesel engines are produced internally. The plant has pursued rigorous automation and labor-saving through use of its own high performance specialized machines and all the latest equipment. The plant has established an "Order Entry System", a rational and waste-free production system, and was one of the first Japanese engine plants to use FMS (Flexible Manufacturing System). It implements rigid quality control.

Double Triple Crown of the Engine Industry-Certified by the World's Six Major Shipping Classification Associations
The Amagasaki Plant has been certified by world's six most authoritative shipping classification associations, LR (Lloyd's Register of Shipping), AB (American Bureau of Shipping), NK (Nippon Kaiji Kyokai), NV (Det Norske Veritas), CCS (China Shipping Classification Association) and RINA (Registro Italiano Navale). Yanmar's Amagasaki Plant was the first plant in the world to be certified by all six, confirming the excellence of the plant's internationally recognized quality control.
