4. RESULTS OF SIMULATION
4.1 Validation of Numerical Simulation

In Fig.4, frequency response functions in long crested bridge waves are shown. Upper figure shows the result of rolling motion, lower figures show the results of pitching and heaving. 'Cal.' means the results obtained from numerical simulation in time domain, and 'Exp.' means the results from experiments in Transient Water Waves (TWW). Those continuous results can be obtained through single experiment. About the TWW, see the reference by Takezawa and Hirayama [2]. Cal. and Exp, show relatively good agreement. So, the calculation, procedure adopted here seems to be validated to some extent.
Secondly, some comparisons of numerical results with experimental results of the maneuvering motion are shown. Measurement of the motion of the free running and rudder controlled by electro-magnetic wave is carried out using optical remote sensing technique. Fig.5 shows some results of the track of the ship's center of gravity and the corresponding time histories during turning maneuver. In addition, the numerical results of ship locations and heading angles at intervals of 10 seconds are drawn on it.
