(1) Delays in development of FDIS 16329 Ships and marine technology - Heading control systems for high speed craft
This is the joint project with IEC/TC80 under leadership of ISO/TC8. DIS vote on ISO side was completed on 2001-10-24, however, CDV vote on IEC side (=ISO DIS vote) was not carried out due to the clerical mistake of IEC. ISO/CS and IEC/CS discussed the matter and resolved to proceed with ISO/IEC joint FDIS vote by omitting CDV vote on IEC side.
FDIS vote is presently being prepared.
(2) Acceptance of secretarial works of ISO/TC 8/SC 5 (bridge layout)
In response to the relinquishment of Denmark from chairman and secretariat of SC 5, SC 6 were requested to add the current work items of SC 5 to their work program by Resolution 21 of The 33rd ISO/TC8/AG meeting in Dominica.
Thereafter, chairman and secretariat of SC6 met with secretariat of SC 5 on 2002-04-16
in Tokyo under presence of TC8 secretariat for detailed discussions and it was agreed upon that SC6 secretariat
will undertake the secretarial works of part of the current work items of SC 5. (please see Annex
A and B)
Note: Denmark has officially relinquished as of 2002-05-01.
The discussions of this Tokyo Meeting was reported at TC8/AG Cadiz Meeting in June 2002 where the following was resolved.
Resolution 25
Noting item(2)(b) "SC 5 possible new work items (05.04) Watch alarm and transfer systems" in ISO/TC 8/SC 6 Exception Report (ISO/TC 8 AG N 569 Annex 6), the ISO/TC8 AG agrees that ISO/TC 8/SC 6 should maintain control of any standards required for Watch Alarm and Transfer Systems.
Further, ISO/TC 8 AG requests that Prof. Iijima actively participate in the work of Automatic Identification Systems (AIS) for Ships at IMO/MSC/Navigation (IMO/NAV 48).
With regard to the ISO/DIS 14612 Ships bridge layout and associated equipment, the Advisory group agreed to be published as a FDIS in SC6 if this DIS could have approved by ISO voting.
The Advisory group remarked the importance of development on AIS at IMO in terms of Maritime Security anti-terrorism and decided to cooperate with IMO in emergency manner.
(3) Electronic transmission of the documents on SC 6
Secretariat of SC6 announced to introduce electronic transmission of the documents of SC 6 by its letter dated 2002-05-13 (JMSA 2002-027) and requested P- and O- member bodies of SC 6 to confirm their contact address.
However, despite our reminder, most of O-member bodies have not responded yet as of end August 2002. Reminder was sent again informing that hard copy transmission of documents will be totally stopped and electronic transmission will be introduced soon.
The documents for SC6 Korea Meeting were delivered on electronic transmission to the member bodies who have provided contact address
