It is important to know and understand Asia-Pacific Regional problems in light of increasing populations, and growing food and energy demands in the Pacific Century. Most importantly, with our interest in marine science and technology, we must understand the important role of the ocean in all aspects.

　

The objective of this forum is to identify short-term problems and investigate solutions, advance marine science and technology collaborations, and encourage industrial activity and involvement. The forum is not a platform for long-term issues, but will study short-term issues in a concrete and efficient manner.

　

Local environment and regulation, socio-economic situations are different for each region. Therefore, lessons learned from successes and failures for each region are important and essential as well. First, the panelist (invited from each region) will have a focal point clarified based on the regional report. Then, a discussion will be made between the panelist and participants. Finally, a partnership and collaboration for concrete solutions will be discussed and concluded.
