Naniwa-Mitsubishi Turbines: New Name in Cargo Pump Industry
Naniwa-Mitsubishi turbine series ERV-N
Naniwa cargo pump series C-V/H
Naniwa Pump Manufacturing Co., Ltd. signed a license agreement effective April 16, 2001, with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. (MHI) for the production of steam turbines. Naniwa is planning to deliver the first "Naniwa-Mitsubishi" brand turbine by the end of 2001.
Under this agreement, high efficiency and high performance MHI design steam turbines will be manufactured by Naniwa and supplied worldwide with Naniwa cargo pumps.
Naniwa Pump Mfg. Co., Ltd. started production of centrifugal type cargo pumping systems in 1975, and has produced a total of approximately 1,500 pump units to date. The company has been selling Mitsubishi products in combination with Naniwa pumps. For several years, Naniwa has been producing most of the main parts for turbines.
MHI has produced and delivered approximately 3,000 tubine units since 1952. Recently, there has been an increase in the building of double-hull tankers, such as AFRAMAX tankers, and therefore increased demand for turbine driven cargo pumps. Such a development motivated Naniwa to establish a manufacturing agreement with MHI. Applicable models are those used for tankers up to VLCC or ULCC class.
This new technical agreement will greatly contribute to an improvement in customer service and an expansion of market share. To meet users' needs, Naniwa is planning to produce an integrated marine pump and turbine system more efficiently, with a shorter delivery time and lower cost.
Naniwa, founded in 1921, is a specialized manufacturer of marine and industrial pumps. It is the only one in the world capable of producing all types of marine pumps. The company is currently manufacturing over 7,000 units annually. Year to date, Naniwa has approximately 10 AFRAMAX cargo pumping system orders for delivery between 2001 and the first half of 2003. They will be produced by Naniwa and employ Naniwa-Mitsubishi turbines.
