 Law on sports promotion and funding (1969)
 This federal law provides the basis for the promotion of sport generally. In accordance with Austria's federal system sporting affairs are the responsibility of each of the nine provinces, all of which have set up their own provincial sports organizations. Each of the nine provinces has enforced sports laws.

6. SPORT PARTICIPATION SURVEY
 Statistik Austria conducts "Mikrozensus" (quaterly survey in private households with various focal points) taking samples from 0,8% of Austrian households: approx. 30,000 households and 60,000 persons in September 1998.

 There is no standardized Austrian fitness test. Various tests are used by various institutions and depending on the goal of the test (Standardized Ergometry, Cooper-Test, Con-coni-Test, Finnish Walking Test, etc.)

8. PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES FOR THE TARGET GROUPS
  The three SFA-organizations ASKO, ASVO and SPORTUNION offer a broadrange of different activities to various target groups, e.g. Kids sports games(SPORTU-NION), Hopsi Hopper-the sports-frog (ASKO), Youth-Sports-weeks and camps (ASVO), "Slow-jogging-meets" for all age groups (except young kids), Activities for senior citizens. These organizations with more than 3 million members (of 8 million Austrians) build the basis of the activity-offers for the Austrian population. The BSO- events are promotional highlights in the year, but the main task of the BSO is coordinating and lobbying.
 
9. LEADERSHIP TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION PROGRAMS
 The BSO initiated certification programs for Sport for All in co-operation with the "Bundesanstalten fur Leibeserziehung" (Federal Institute of physical education). The "Ubungsleiterausbildung" as first step may be followed by the "Lehrwarteausbildung", which is offered in different areas of Sport for All. ("Fit-Sport","Senior citizens-Sport")
