財団プロフィール
東京財団は1997年7月1日国土交通省(旧運輸省)を主務官庁として設立されました。その設立趣旨は、四面を海に囲まれ、人や物質の移動を海上交通に依存する日本が、急速にグローバル化する今日の世界において、人類の直面する地球的諸問題を解決し、より良き国際社会を築くために、知的リーダーシップを取ることにあります。そのために、人文社会科学分野における高等教育と研究に関わる学際的、国際的活動をとおして、国際性豊かな人材の育成と先駆的アイデアの創造を目的とする次の事業を実施しています。
○運輸、海事をはじめとする諸問題を研究する専門家の招聘および派遣による国際対話の推進ならびに研究機会の提供
○国際社会および地域社会に係わる諸問題の研究の推進
○運輸、海事をはじめとする諸分野における国際感覚と創造性を有する人材の育成
○高等教育、研究機関等の国際化の推進
○運輸、海事をはじめとする諸問題の解決をめざした人材の育成および対話、研究を推進するための国際会議の開催および国際交流の推進
○上記諸事業を実施するための情報の収集および提供
○同じく上記諸事業に係わる周知啓発
○その他目的を達成するために必要な事業
Foundation Profile
The foundation was formally approved by the Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (formerly Ministry of Transport) and established on July 1, 1997. A private, independent foundation governed by independent Boards of Directors and Trustees, the foundation is based in Tokyo, Japan.
Founded to promote and contribute to the betterment of a rapidly changing and increasingly borderless world, the foundation initiates and promotes intellectual activity within the parameters of the social sciences, humanities, and maritime affairs. Its mission is to help ensure that global issues of concern to all humankind are addressed in a proactive and timely manner. The foundation also implements programs that foster the creation of innovative ideas and development of leadership for the 2lst century.
・ Promoting international dialog and providing research opportunities through inviting specialists from overseas and sending their Japanese counterparts abroad to research transportation, maritime affairs, and other fields.
・ Facilitating research on issues relating to international and local communities.
・ Developing human resources in the transportation, maritime affairs, and other fields with an emphasis on nurturing global sensibilities and creativity.
・ Contributing to the internationalization of higher education and research bodies.
・ Promoting international conferences and exchanges with the aim of developing human resources to resolve issues relating to transportation, maritime affairs, and other fields, and of furthering dialog and research.
・ Gathering and disseminating information which supports the above programs.
・ Informing the public about the above programs.
・ Engaging in other activities that fulfill the goals of the foundation.
