The grain size of the material was up to 2 mm. The moisture content of the sample as received was 3.1 %.

・ When the moisture content of the cargo is 1 to 2 %, this cargo is not liable to liquefy, probably.

Taking these issues into consideration, I would like to propose following amendments:

・ In heading, after the name of the cargo add the following sentence:

"(This cargo can be categorized into GROUP A or C. This entry/schedule is for the cargo in GROUP C. When the cargo is in GROUP A, see the entry/schedule for MINERAL CONCENTRATES.)"

・ Delete the 1st paragraph of LOADING.

(158) I prefer the existing draft text.

Re: LOADING

(159) I prefer the existing draft text.

Re: POTASSIUM CHLORIDE - BCSN

(160) I agree with the Coordinator's amendments regarding BCSN.

Re: PEANUTS (in shell) - CARRIAGE

(161) I agree with the Coordinator's amendment.

Re: PITCH PRILL BC No: 050

(162) "Tape hatches" is included in CARRIAGE and ventilation is required. I would like invite the members for comment on this issue.

Re: POTASH - CARRIAGE

(163) I propose to add the words as follows:

"Seal hatches to prevent water ingress, if necessary."

Re: POTASSIUM SULPHATE - VENTILATION

SAWDUST - VENTILATION

SEED CAKE (d) - VENTILATION

(164) I support option (1).

Re: PYRITE

(165) I would like to propose following amendments (see my comment on ILMENITE SAND):

・ In heading, after the name of the cargo add the following sentence:

"(This cargo can be categorized into GROUP A or C. This entry/schedule is for the cargo in GROUP C. When the cargo is in GROUP A, see the entry/schedule for MINERAL CONCENTRATES.)"

Re: SAND

(166) Our experience sometimes differ each other depending on the characteristics of the cargo. I agree with the inclusion of the text in DESCRIPTION and HAZARD proposed by you, because you proposed based on your experience and the consultation of mining industry.

Re: SEED CAKE - arrangement of fire-extinguishing systems

See my comment No.130

Re: SEED CAKE (a), (b) and (c) (solvent-extracted) - VENTILATION

(167) Though mechanical ventilation shall be provided for the cargo hold carrying these cargoes, based on the experience of Japanese shipping companies, we consider that natural surface ventilation is enough, during voyage. However, as you pointed out, my proposed text may lead to confusion. Then, I would like to amend my proposed text as follows:

"To be stowed in mechanically ventilated cargo space, if solvent-extracted. Surface ventilation will assist in removing any residual solvent vapour. Ingress of air into the cargo may cause self-heating. Care should be taken for mechanical ventilation to prevent self-heating of the cargo during voyage. Prior to discharge or entering into the cargo spaces, the cargo hold should be ventilated effectively to remove any residual solvent vapour and to prevent the accident caused by oxygen depletion."

Re: SILICOMANGANESE (LOW CARBON) BC No: 060 - Gas monitoring

(168) Regarding the text proposed by the UK, I consider that the text in LOADING can be removed, because it is duplicated in the text in CARRIAGE.

Re: SODIUM NITRATE UN No: 1498 - FIRE PROTECTION IN CARGO SPACES

(169) I prefer previous text.

Re: SUPERPHOSPHATE (triple granular) - DISCHARGE

(170) I am sorry that I have lost the comment which explain about the. following text:

"If cargo has hardened trimming may be necessary to avoid the formation of overhanging cargo faces."

Please let me know the meaning of this text and the reason of the proposal.
