RESULTS OF THE TESTS

1 Samples and their basic properties

1.1 Samples

Five samples listed in Table 1 were used for the tests.

These samples were selected based on the progress report of the C.G. to DSC 5. Carol Lake Iron Ore is comparatively coarse material deemed as a material which may liquefy. Copper concentrate and zinc concentrate are typical materials which may liquefy. Granulated Nickel Slag is deemed "not liable to liquefy". Sedimentary Galena is comparatively fine material deemed as a material which is not liable to liquefy. .Hereafter, these matetials are expressed in shorter words, i.e., "Iron Conc.", "Copper Conc.", "Zinc Conc.", "Nickel Slag" and "Galena", in the ANNEX.

1.2 Specific gravity of solids

Specific gravity (relative density) of solids should be measured for Proctor/Fagerberg Test and for Liquefaction Potential Test. Poland and Japan measured specific gravity of each sample using pycnometer. The results of the measurements are given in Table 2.
