The Tokyo Foundation (formerly the Global Foundation for Research and Scholarship) was formally approved by the Japanese Ministry of Transport and established on July 1, 1997. The Tokyo Foundation was founded on the three pillars of policy research, human capital development and information exchange. As an independent, private-sector, nonprofit organization, the Foundation is striving to create a global venue for the exchange of ideas and idea makers.
