My major concern is in the IPRC. We have a small group of people working on the Asian-Australian monsoon. We face the question whether we should develop our own model or improve, for example AGCM, or not. Or just take the models to do numerical experiments. We have introduced this ECHAM-model, COALA's model and CCSR AGCM. We are using these coupled with the some intermediate ocean GCM models. We start to think trying to improve those models but we don't have the manpower. I think the modeling capability in IPRC need to be enhanced. There is the great need, otherwise we are really limited by using intermediate model or theoretical approach. In last 10 years, I have spent a lot of time on this aspect. But I really think if we want understand these complex interactions, we have to move to this more complex modeling. So that again is related to use of earth simulator to do more numerical experiments and improve current models.
