In 1887, the western extended as far as College Street we call Thakhinmya Garden Street. So we can see at that time the tramway was cover all the CBT area. At that time inhabitance is about 50,000. So the transportation system is more advance than the demand sectors.

Another disadvantage is the tramway was the tenant of the municipality and paid rental fees for 3,000 Rs. a mile in respect of its double track and 2,000 Rs. for the single track, paying in all 13,000 Rs. a year that was much a lot of money at that time.

In 1889, the undertaking was sold to the steam Tramway Company of Calcutta with Messrs Gillanders Arbutbnot as agents. At that time there were only three road ways to the north, the one is Pyay Road, another one is Kokine Road (now we call Kabaaye Pagoda Road) and another one is Alley now we call U Wizara. At that time, the situation of roads are very bad conditions and the mass of population of all classes had no option. They have to live as near as the commercial or industrial area. At the beginning of the century the only modern method of street transport was the steam tramway but the tramway system had fallen into a bad condition. Traffic return was insufficient to pay dividends and to provide funds for the proper maintenance of the track. In 1896, the tramway company had been called on by the municipality to improve the condition of its property and in 1899, owing to its failure to do so had been proceeded against in the courts and fined under the Rangoon tramway act.

With the result that the municipal committee in 1900 declared that the system was a nuisance and a danger to the public and in consequence of the high fares charged. It was doubtful whether it was or has ever been of the benefit to Yangon that tramways were supposed to be and generally was to most towns. The another disadvantage for the steam tramway is the passenger's complains that the sparks from the engine burnt their clothes. On the 15th December 1906, the first tramcar ran under the auspices of the new Rangoon Electric tramway and supply company from the Surati Bazaar Road (Kyeemyindaing Kanner Road) at Kemmindine to the Surati Bazzar (Theingyi-Zay). During the following year the system of electric tramways as it in former steam tramway was almost completed. In 1905 the private motor cars had made its appearance and the members of such vehicles were sufficiently numerous. In 1913, Rangoon Electric tramway and supply company introduced the first transportation bus system with five buses and the total numbers of vehicles increased up to 601 numbers which included 8 buses, 28 taxi cab, private and lorry 426 numbers and motor-cycle 139 numbers. So in 1913, we have started a first transport system. In 1924, Myanmar Nationality Transport Group substituted RETC Co., of Urban Transportation, it has not more than 15 numbers of ford buses. The route was started from Theingyi Zay to Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon Zoo and Nga-Htat-Kyi Pagoda.

After Second World War due to bomb devastation the transport system was totally damaged and 201 numbers of war surpluses were substituted in Urban Transportation System. So from 1948 to 1962, after Second World War private owned buses provided public passengers services in the City of Yangon. The private bus owners associate to ran buses under marking such as Rabbit, Horse, at that time there are only marked with the animal signs, Zebra or some buses train. That sign showed which bus to the some specific places. So after in 1962, previous privately owned bus lines association were abolished and all the individual operators were brought under the regulatory control of the Yangon Division Bus Control Committee to facilitate commuter services safely, speedily and as cheaply as possible.
