The outlook for many industries depends on market factors but the State Government can contribute strongly to the capacity of businesses to move ahead. Principal among those market factors are the changes in the economic performance of a number of Asian countries and the need to ensure we continue to tap new overseas markets. In this respect, these industry strategies recognise the need to respond flexibly to major developments in particular market economies. The strategies will need to evolve and adapt as particular industries come to grips with changing circumstances especially in Asian markets.
