1.2　Company Performance

Caterpillar Group has a total workforce of 67,000 people, most of them (57%) based in the USA. In 1999 its net sales were around $19.7 billion (Yen).

Caterpillar's engines businesses (including road, rail and stationary power as well as marine) account for around 35 per cent of sales and represent the fastest growing component of the group's activities. It is anticipated that by 2005 they could account for half of Caterpillar's total sales.
