IHI-T.M.D Vibration Compensate Device
Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries Co., Ltd. (IHI) has developed a practical device for vibration problems of main fittings and local structures on ship. IHI-T.M.D.
(Tuned Mass Damper) is a passive type vibration damper and this device mainly consists of mass, steel spring plates, support system and damping equipment. Vibration mass is adjusted by adding or removing weights and natural frequency is adjusted by shifting the supporting points.
In addition to this simple mechanism, this device does not need any power supply.
IHI has developed this device during these ten years and has carried out many tests. At present, this device has become the practical device and it is widely applied to actual ships. For example, deck house of a fishing boat, radar mast of a large container vessel, dodger wing of a VLCC, etc. IHI has many application examples. One of the advantages of this device when applied to actual ships, is that it can be applied not only to new building ships but also to delivered ships within a few days.
Based on these tests and application examples, IHI can supply this device to your various vibration troubles and solve your vibration problems.
