LNG FPSO / FSRU
IHI has proven the reliable performance of SPB (Self-supporting, Prismatic shape, IMO Type B) Cargo Containment System through the operation of LPG FSO "ESCRAVOS" and LNGCs "POLAR EAGLE" & "ARCTIC SUN" without any stoppage since their start of operation. Featuring advantages of SPB, IHI has completed the design of LNG FPSO (Floating Production Storage & Offloading Unit) and LNG FSRU (Floating Storage & Regasification Unit-Receiving Terminal). These systems are applicable to any scale of LNG projects.
Advantageous Features of SPB
1. To ensure flexible operation:
LNG can be loaded and unloaded flexibly as the cargo tank is designed to accommodate LNG at any level. (No sloshing problem)
2. To ensure safe and long life operation:
1) The cargo tank is of a stiffened plate structure made of aluminum alloy or 9% Ni steel and is fully analyzed to ensure long fatigue life.
2) Result of hull FEM calculation is also integrated into IMO type B analysis to ensure the reliability of hull structure equal to cargo tank.
3. To ensure safe and easy maintenance:
1) Wide and flush upper deck enables free arrangement and easy maintenance of liquefaction / regasification plant on the upper deck.
2) Good accessibility to the deck, inner hull structure and cargo containment system for inspection and maintenance.
