PALMELA 5,103-unit Car Carrier
The 5,103-unit car carrier PALMELA was completed in February 2000 at Shin Kurushima Dockyard Co., Ltd. to the order of KS Ocean Corp of Panama.
The vessel has twelve (12) car decks including two (2) deck for stowing large-sized vehicles such as buses, dump trucks, bulldozers, etc.
The vessel has one (1) set of stern ramp and two (2) sets of side ramps on both sides of the midship part operated by hydraulic winch and hydraulic cylinder. The maximum designed load of the stern ramp is 80 t gross weight.
Rampways in car hold are designed to load / unload heavy trucks as well as passenger cars and to obtain maximized car deck area.
An electric motor driven bow thruster is fitted on the bow for effective maneuverability in port.
