EUROPEAN HIGHWAY 5,000-unit Pure Car Carrier
A 5,000-unit pure car carrier EUROPEAN HIGHWAY was built at Sakaide Works of Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., and delivered to Canopus Maritime Co., Ltd.in November 1999.
Features
1. The ship is a roll-on / roll-off type pure car carrier with twelve car decks in the hold.
2. Two large ramp ways where large cars can run are arranged on all car decks. This enables an efficient self-run loading from the shore to the ship by driving cars through the stern ramp and side ramps on both sides.
3. Four of the twelve car decks are liftable. The liftable decks facilitate transport of many kinds of cars including large trucks and buses.
4. A low-speed, long-stroke, fuel efficient main diesel engine, Kawasaki-MAN B&W 8S60MC, is equipped.
5. Kawasaki Damp Tank absorbs hydraulic fluctuation due to propeller exciting force and reduces vibration.
