HIKARI MARU NO.15 3,550-dwt Oil Tanker
The 3,550-dwt oil tanker HIKARI MARU NO.15, built at Setoda Works of Naikai Zosen Corporation, was delivered to the vessel's co-owners, Corporation for dvanced Transport & Technology and Kansai Tech Corporation on May 28,1999.
The tanker is the sixth vessel delivered to Kansai Tech, following the HIKARI MARU NO.12 completed in May 1993.
Features
1. The tanker is a single decker having a forecastle, expansion trunk, bulge and poop, with the engine room arranged aft. The hull has large bulbous bow and a rounded cut stern, and is equipped with a Schilling rudder.
2. The cargo space is divided into nine tanks for the loading of different oil including Minas crude oil, Minas heavy oil, high pour point heavy oil, naphtha and NGL.
The side shell plates of the cargo tanks are watertight bulge-structured (double hull), and the tank bottom is also double-structured to enhance the temperature keeping performance for cargo oil and to make possible navigation with clean ballast alone.
3. The engine department has control room, and the main engine can be remote-controlled from the bridge as well.A joystick steering device is provided to facilitate maneuvering for berthing and unberthing. The CPP, schilling rudder and bow thruster can be centrally controlled from the wheelhouse to contribute to crew size reduction.
