AL WAKRAH 135,000 m3 LNG Carrier
Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd., Sakaide Works delivered a 135,000 m3 LNG carrier AL WAKRAH in December 1998.
Features
1. The ship is the world's largest LNG carrier that can carry 135,310 m3 of LNG in five Moss type spherical LNG tanks of aluminum alloy.
2. The LNG tank insulation of Kawasaki Panel System is applied for higher efficiency of thermal insulation to achieve 0.15% boil-off rate per day.
3. The full double hull and double bottom structure of cargo tank compartment protects the LNG tanks from direct damage.
4. Cargo handling is monitored and controlled in the cargo control room with wide view which is arranged on the fore side of the accommodation space just under the bridge and at almost the same level as the pipe passage in the manifold part. Observation and control of machinery is carried out in the engine control room on the second deck in the engine room.
5. High performance steam turbines are equipped. The boilers provide economical service by making use of boil-off gas.
