FERRY TOSHIMA 1,389-GT Car Ferry
FERRY TOSHIMA, an 86-meter long car ferry was built at Uraga Works of Sumitomo Heavy Industries Ltd.and was delivered to Toshima Village in February 2000. The ship navigates at service speed of 19 knots, which enables it to make three round trips a week from Kagoshima via seven small islands to Naze of Amamioshima Island.
Features
1. Twin controllable pitch propellers twin high lift rudders and two bow thrusters are installed to achieve good maneuverability in narrow bays.
2. One set of fin stabilizer is provided for safe operation in rough seas.
3. Two cargo gears of the stern ramp and 10-ton derrick are provided for shortening cargo handling time.
4. The stern ramp door connecting with the movable deck enables the loading and unloading of vehicles at various tidal levels and quay heights.
