狂言「棒縛」(ぼうしばり)
自分の留守に家来(けらい)の太郎冠者と次郎冠者が、酒蔵の酒を盗み飲みするのが気がかりな主人は一計を案じる。まず次郎冠者を呼出し、太郎冠者の不奉公を相談する。そこでちかごろ太郎冠者が棒術を習っているのを聞き、太郎冠者をいいくるめ両手首を棒に縛りつけてしまう。また主人は次郎冠者をも後手(うしろで)に縛り上げ、これで二人とも酒は飲めまいと安心して出かける。留守番をしながら相手をなじり、身から出た錆(さび)と一旦はあきらめた二人だったが、それでも酒が飲みたい。そこで浮かんだ妙案は…。何とか知恵をしぼり、不自由ななりで酒蔵の鍵を開け、まんまと酒を飲み交わし、舞を舞ったり謡ったりと酒盛りに興ずる。だいぶ酔いが回った頃、酒樽から盃で酒を汲もうとすると、何とそこには主(あるじ)の姿が映っているではないか。留守を案じる主の執心だとさんざんに悪口を言い、作り謡いをして酔いしれる両人の目の前に現れたのは、まぎれもない主人。帰宅した主人に責められ、両人は逃げ出す。
"Bo-shibari" (Kyogen)
A head to household was afraid that his young followers, Taro- kwaja and Jiro-kwaja would drink his Sake at the storehouse by steal during his outing. He hit on an idea. First, he called for Jiro-kwaja and talked with him about Taro-kwaja's neglectful services. On learning that Taro-kwaja has been instructed Bo-Jutsu (a martial art with- a stick) recently, the head tied up Taro-kwaja's hands together with the stick. Then, he bound Jiro alike. Now that he had no anxiety, he went out. On the other hand, Taro-kwaja and Jiro-kwaja was left and started to blame each other. They realized that it was their own faults and gave up once, but they still wanted to drink. Then? They managed to open the storehouse somehow with their tied body and began to drink. They enjoyed the feast, singing and dancing. When they got drunk and tried to ladle Sake directly from the Sake cask, they found the shape of their head reflected on the surface of Sake. It was him what they saw, of whom they were speaking ill to their heart content, singing of his stingness! Scolded they took to their heels.
能「葵上」(あおいのうえ)
光源氏の正妻、葵上(あおいのうえ)は物怪(もののけ)にとり愚かれ病床に臥せっている。舞台の前方に置かれた小袖は、この葵上を象徴している。貴僧高僧による加持祈祷も効き目がない。照日(てるひ)の巫女(みこ)の引く梓弓(あづさゆみ)にひかれ、引く牛もない壊れ車に乗った上臈(じょうろう)(貴婦人)が姿を現す。六條御息所(ろくじょうのみやすどころ)を名のる生霊は、かつて東宮(とうぐう、皇太子)妃であった華やかな昔や源氏と深い契りを結んだ頃を思い、今の境遇を嘆く。また賀茂の祭(葵祭)見物の折り、恋敵の葵上から受けた車争いの屈辱は御息所の心をかき乱し、恨みを一層つのらせる。源氏への思いは、葵上に対する嫉妬となり、怨みを晴らさんがために怨霊となって憑き崇る。妄執の焔に身を焦がし苦しむ御息所は、葵上を車に乗せて連れ去ろうとする。葵上の容態の急変に横川の小聖(こひじり)が招かれる。聖が一心に祈ると、鬼と化した御息所の霊が現れる。数珠(じゅず)を操んで打ち据える聖の法力に、なおも襲いかかる怨霊はついに祈り伏せられ、般若経(はんにゃきょう)の慈悲により成仏する。
"Aoi-no-Ue" (Noh)
Aoi-no-Ue, the wife of Hikaru Genji, is possessed by Mono-no-ke (a vagrant spirit temporarily detached itself from the body of its emotional stress) and ill in bed. High buddhists has attempeted prays for grace, but no effect. Then a noble lady appears on a vehicle without a cow, attracted by Teruhi-no-Miko(a female shaman)'s drawing a bow (Azusayumi). The vagrant spirit which declares it is of Rokujo-no-Miyasudokoro is lamenting over her lot, thinking of her glorious past when she was once a princess of Togu (the palace of prince) and the days of her liaison with Genji. And when she is reminded of the disgrace given by her rival. Aoi-no-Ue in scrambling for the vehicle at the seeing of Kamo Festival, she gets so much distracted with intensive jealousy. Her love for Genji changes into jealousy of Aoi-no-Ue and her maligrant spiritual entity possesses Aoi-no-Ue, causing her bodily and mental torments. When Aoi-no-Ue's ill health turns to worse suddenly, Kohijiri (a buddhist, a exorcist) is sent for from Yokokura. After the saint has prayed and persuaded the entity to leave her body, a goblin, personification of Aoi-no-Ue's spirit appears. Though the evil spirit attacks him on undauntedly, he keeps exercising with his Juzu. Finally, he succeed and the 'possess' dies in peace.

野村四郎(能楽師〕
1936年生まれ。狂言方故6世野村万蔵の四男。シテ方を志し、25世観世宗家、故観世元正に入門。『安宅』にて芸術祭奨励賞、『求塚』にて芸術祭賞。ほか芸術選奨文部大臣賞、紫綬褒章受章。東京芸術大学教授。重要無形文化財総合指定保持者。その人間性と相まった品格ある端正な芸風と劇的な表現で、観客を魅了する。NHK-TV『仕舞入門』講座に出演。共著に『能を彩る文様の世界』(桧書店)がある。
NOMURA Shiro (Noh Master)
Born in 1936, he was the fourth son of the late NOMURA Manzo who was the izumi-Ryu Kyougen Master 6th. In 1952, he becomes the 25th kanze-soke, the late Kahze Motomasa's pupil. In 1 967, he received the encouragernent award at the Art Festival for his "Ataka Dosan"and in 1987 Art Festival Award for "Motomezuka" performed by his own group, Nomura Shiro -no-kai. He was ako rewarded the Minister of Education Award for art promotion inl993 and Sijuhosyo Award in 1998. From 1999, he teaches at Tokyo University of Fine Arts and Music as a professor of traditional music department. The book "the world of patterns coloring Noh" was written by him with KITAMURA Tetsuro.
