小倉祇園太鼓田町チーム

　

山車に据え付けられた太鼓の音が無数に重なる小倉祇園祭りは、映画「無法松の一生」で有名な祇園太鼓に象徴される勇壮な祭り行事です。京都の神幸祇園、博多の追い山祇園とともに全国三大祇園に数えられています。毎年7月の第3金・土・日に盛大に行われているこの祭りは、関ケ原の戦いの功により、40万石の大名に任ぜられた細川忠興公が、慶長7年(1602年)に大規模な小倉城の築城を始め、城下町としての繁栄のために祇園社を創建して領内の総鎮守として行われたことが始まりといわれています。

　

　

Kokura Gion Taiko

　

Kokura Gion is one of three major Gion Festivals in Japan. The other is held in Kyoto, and the third in Hakata.

Grand Kokura Gion Festival takes place on the third weekend of July every year. It dates back to 1617 when a then daimyo lord, Tadaoki Hosokawa, built his Gion shrine to wish the prosperity of the town in which his castle was built.

Kokura Gikon Taiko played during the festival symbolizes Kokura Gion Festival, Normally Taiko playing takes place on top of a dashi, special festival float. There are over 100 such dashi representing various town.
