To determine the function that each rock has in the earth's surface, we subjected each solution to many tests, such as the rearing and cultivating of plants from sprouting through growing to withering away and the purification of water contamination. The results revealed the following interesting characteristics of each rock.

The solution of granite which is found in the upper crust of the earth showed a remarkable effect of physiological activation on the plant. The solution of basalt which is found in the lower crust of the earth showed a remarkable effect of surface activation on the plant. The solution of serpentine which is found in the upper mantle of the earth showed a remarkable effect of purification of contaminated water.

Although peridotite is the rock of the upper mantle, it is represented here by its weathered form, serpentine. Although these results were reproducible, we could not explain them without first rethinking our premise. First of all, what is rock? It is an aggregate of various minerals. Because rocks do indeed differ in properties, the results in Table 1 reflect the properties of the minerals that make up the respective type of rock. The reason is the dispersal of micro-crystals of the minerals in the solutions. If we accept this reasoning, we may say that the results in the table are logical.

How large are these micro-crystals? Considering the properties of the granite solution, they should range from about 10 A to 50 A in diameter. This is because the physiological activity indicates the catalysis within the bodies of organisms.
