4.2 Journal Movement Behavior Under Uneven Alignment Condition

The measurement condition of uneven alignment is shown in figure 4. The theoretical calculation has also simulated under same condition.

Figure 13 shows the calculated results of journal tilting angle. The tilting angle in No.1 bearing moves up with an increase of the lower part of No. 1 bearing thickness. Therefore the maximum tilting angle increases with an increase of No. 1 bearing thickness. As for No. 2 bearing, the tendency is equal with the results in No. 1 bearing. But the rate of moving up or down of journal is less than in No. 1 bearing. The influence by exchanging the No. 1 bearing thickness to journal tilting is slightly greater in No. 1 beating than in No. 2 beating.

The tendency of journal tilting moving up is also related with the direction of alignment by the different height of two adjacent bearings.

Figure 14 shows the measured results under uneven alignment. Comparison of calculated and measured results, the calculated result in No. 2 bearing is roughly equivalent to measured result. In No. 1 bearing, the tendency of the journal moving up is not obvious in the measured. But as for the maximum value, measured result is related in the same way as calculated result.
