The plant is so designed and built that rain is to flow into a pond. After the water in the pond is used in the plant, it flows through an artificial river in the plant. Various plants are growing inside and along the river. The used water is bilogically cleaned in the course of its flow from the plant to the pond. As the result, the water is recycled in this way and thus the closed system of water is established. The water is so clean that various fishes live there now. Fig. 13 shows the river.

They have 20 units of cogenetion diesel engines in the plant. They had been required to use 36 kinds of different LO. Based on our advice, however, the company authorities decided to use only six kinds of LO. Kidney system was adopted and there is no waste oil in the plant. Now, the model plant is working very well as expected.

7. CONCLUSIONS

(1) It is verified that LO deterionation is negligivbly small and LO can be used semi-permanently by eliminating the negligibly small amount of the deteriorated LO and the other impurities and thus by keeping LO clean.

(2) A new technology for semi-permanent use of LO without any waste oil is now established. The technology is called kidney system.

(3) LO consumption is decresed to 1/5〜1/10 in normal running of marine and cogeneration four cycle diesel engines.

(4) Engine reliablity is much improved by the LO kidney system because LO is always kept clean.

(5) A new engine flushing system is established. It enables used engines to be almost perfectly flushed and cleaned less than in two hours.

(6) An advanced FO・LO system is established. The system incorporates FO sludge breaker, high floating suction for FO, fire ring and the LO kidney system. There were no troubles at all during one year running of the engine equipped with the advanced FO- LO system.

(7) The kidney system has been working very well in various fields.

(8) A plant was designed and built based on the concept of the kidney system. It has been working well in semi-endless recycling of water and semi-permanent use of LO. Neither waste water nor waste oil is generated in this plant.
