G. GUIDELINES FOR THE LUBRICATION OF LARGE HIGH SPEED DIESEL ENGINES
After reviewing and describing these large diesel engines and their duty cycle, this bulletin studies the lubrication systems and highlights on:
・ oil stresses,
・ lubricant condition.
Below are relevant parameters that influence the above factors for this specific market sector (see also Fig. 10):
Fig. 10 - Comparison of large trunk piston engine performance.
The bulletin then analyses the lubricant performance specific to the particular application in such engines / operating conditions.
Finally the WG gives in the bulletin guidance on:
1) lubricant selection, (see Fig. 11),
2) monitoring of oil quality in service,
3) table for advisory/mandatory action limits for used oil analysis.

H. OIL DEGRADATION
The bulletin, still in progress, will described the different level of stresses induced on the lubricant, and will give information on degradation of the different oil parameters or characteristics.
I. RECOMMENDATION FOR THE LUBRICATION OF GAS ENGINES
This bulletin, under good progress, will describe the different gas engines (eg spark ignition, pilot fuel ignition, etc...) and also the different types of gas available from natural gas and landfill gas or bio gas. (See Fig. 12).
*) CHC = chlorinated hydrocabons.
Fig. 12 - Fuels for gas engines and their typical data
According to the above described gas type this bulletin gives a table detailing the selection criteria (see Fig. 13) for gas engines lubricants.
This bulletin then describes the oil maintenance as well as used oil monitoring. It explains the additional procedures which have to be included in the analytical monitoring of the oil in service, as compared to those already described in Medium Speed Engine Lubrication Guidelines mentioned above.
Users will also find a table giving the precautionary and mandatory action limit for engines in service. Following that table, users will find an useful table describing problems and trouble shooting list (see Fig. 14).
Additionally a glossary adapted for gas engine lubrication is supplied at the end of that bulletin.
