Ball and disc was driven independently to allow any slide/roll ratio. The ball was polished in order to obtain the high quality of interferograms. The optical system used to measure film thickness was composed of a microscope, a high resolution colour video camera and a high intensity white light source. The disc are coated with a transparent semi-reflective layer which is made of Chromium. To complement the film thickness measurement, the apparatus also enables the traction force on the surface of the disc to be obtained.
Characeristics of disc and ball, experimental condition are summarized in Table 1 and Table 2. Lubricant properties are shown in Table 3. All test were carried out under pure rolling. Two kind of experiment have performed in this sturdy. One of them is a case of varying temperature with constant load. Another is a case of varying load with constant temperature.

3. RESULTS AND DISCUSSION
Fig2(a),(b),(c) show experimental results of profile of oil film thickness about Santotrac 50. Fig2(a) is oil film profile across the direction of motion at the location of minimum film thickness.
