3-2-5 CORRECTIONS FOR PERFORMANCE DATA
M/E Output can be calculated according to manufacture's manual. In the case of SULZER type engine. M/E output is calculated based on load indicator position. Almost engine type other than SULZER, M/E output is calculated based on fuel oil pump rack. Various environmental data are used as correction factor. It includes fuel oil specification, fuel oil inlet temperature, engine room temperature and cooling water temperature etc.
The scavenging air pressure, fuel oil consumption rate, T/C RPM, Pmax, Pcomp and Exhaust gas temperature are also corrected by suction air and sea water temperature to compare with that of shop trial.
3-2-6 Benefits from Introduction of the System
Usually a crew calculated M/E power, fuel oil consumption rate etc. by manual. As system analyzed and display these data, a crew can detect of abnormalities, and determine the optimum timing for maintenance work easily.
As the performance of M/E in operation can be evaluated easily, a crew can participate in another maintenance work etc. and the total maintenance quality can be improved.
