Development of Ship Administration System for Fleet Control
Yoshiharu SHIMURA*
ABSTRACT
While the ship's master is clearly responsible for the safety of the ship and her crew, the overall responsibility for administration and safe operation of each ship rests with the owner or person who has assumed the responsibility for the operation of the ship from the owner.
The introduction of the International Safety Management (ISM) Code requires a company to ensure that conditions, activities and tasks, both ashore and on board, affecting safety and environmental protection, are planned, organized, executed and checked in accordance with legislative and company requirements. To satisfy these requirements, we have developed a new type Ship Administration System that is designed to support ashore people to control their fleet.
Key Words; Computer Application, Diagnosis technology, Maintenance System
1. SYSTEM CONFIGURATION
Though the system is comprised of a headquarters system and a shipboard system, both of these systems may be used independently.
Multiple clients can use this system by establishing a PC-LAN. Control of data by a server machine in this case allows several users to share data.
2.DATA COMMUNICATION
A shipboard system can be also connected data logger so as to receive field data for on-line performance analysis. The data communication between ashore and on board can be easily conducted by E-mail.
Large volume data and/or long periodical data can be sent to ashore by floppy disc.
