Exception Report on progress of work in ISO/TC8/SC3
The following summarizes significant changes in the Programme of Work that have taken place since the last Plenary meeting of ISO/TC8 held in October 1999.
1. Changes in the status of work items under consideration in the ISO/TC8/SC3 Programme of work are shown in the attachment to this report. The following summary of changes is provided for information:
a. ISO 14726-1, 15540, and 15441 have been published, increasing the total number of published standards to 25. A Technical Corrigendum was issued for ISO 15540 to clarify the scope.
b. One DIS has advanced to the FDIS stage (ISO/FDIS 15364) and has been distributed for balloting.
c. Two CDs have moved to the DIS stage (ISO/DIS 9785 and 13617) increasing the total number in the DIS stage from seven to eight.
d. One WD has moved to the CD stage (ISO/CD 14726-2) which, in conjuction with two CDs moving to the DIS stage, decreases the total number in the CD stage from nine to eight.
e. As a result of one WD advancing to the CD stage, the number of WDs has been reduced from three to two (ISO/WD 15840 and 16288).
f. As a result of three NWIPs advancing to the AWI stage, the number of AWIs has remained at three (ISO/AWI 18770, 19921, and 19922)
g. The number of possible new work items has decreased from nine to six as a result of three NWIPs being approved.
2. The Marine Machinery Association, the Organization representing the USA for ANSI as Secretariat of ISO/TC8/SC3, will no longer serve in that role as of 2000-06-01. At the fifth annual meeting of SC3, the U.S. P-member representative stated that the USA will continue to fill the position of Secretariat, but as of this date arrangements have not been completed to fill the position of SC3 Secretariat. Therefore, it is likely that the SC3 Secretariat will become vacant on 2000-06-01. In view of this situation, we have attached a complete report on the progress of work in ISO/TC8/SC3.
3. The next meeting of ISO/TC8/SC3 is scheduled to be held in London, England starting at 10:00 A.M. 2000-09-06 and ending at 12:00 noon on 1999-09-08.
