・ 8 AG N 543 I.C.T for Environmentally Friendly and Safe Maritime Transport

Prof. Hengst explained the new proposal based on 8AG N 543.

The purpose of this item is to develop a standard relating the assessment of the performance in the ships and the shipping companies using database in terms of environment and safe shipping taking into account the implementation of Port State Control and ISM code.

Mr. Robertsson, the Chairman of TC/8/SC10, suggested that there is a similar item in SC10, The Implementation of Fleet management System Network, Ship Safety Record and so on, which is now being developed in SC10.

Mr. Hime pointed out that TC8 should avoid if it is duplicated item each other. After discussion, TC8/AG decided that Mr. Robertsson and Mr. Hime should consult more details of this proposal and report at next AG. The Chairman assigns the item to Mr. Robertsson, Chairman SC10 for recommended action at our next meeting.

ECS Database by Mr. Schade

Mr. Schade pointed out that the Electronic Chart System standard, which is being developed by TC8/SC6 and IEC/TC80, might not be adopted in IMO regulation. Therefore the SC6 secretary should make it clear and check the scope of the standards. IMO has endorsed ECDIS. The standard being developed in TC8/SC6 and IEC/TC80 is for use in applications where lesser requirements are anticipated.

Navigation Light by Mr. Schade

Mr. Schade introduced the information on the new work item, Navigation Light, which is proposed in CEN/TC300.

CEN/TC300 is looking for the experts who want to be a volunteer to develop this standard.

As this is already a work item for HSC in TC8/SC6, the Chairman suggested that Mr. Arikawa, Secretary of SC6, should contact CEN/CT300 Secretary to make him aware of our activity and to invite CEN participants. If this is a navigation light for other than HSC, the expertise exists in ISO and priority should be at ISO level to avoid duplication. Investigate Vienna agreement.
