Greetings
The "Asia Gateball Championship 2000" was held over 3 days from October 29 to 31 in 2000.
With their eyes on winning the title of No.1 in Asia, 1,194 players in 170 teams gathered at the Stadium of Minhang District of Shanghai City in China from 6 countries or regions (Japan / Korea / Singapore / Chinese Taipei / Hong Kong, China / China).
Though the weather was not perfect with occasional drizzle during the championship, the grand scale and colorful production wholly suited to these games held in China helped brighten up the championship.
The winner of the Asian championship was Team Fujian Province with players in their thirties who displayed an excellent level of skill. The Chinese teams made good use of their geographical advantage and occupied the 8 top positions, showing their overwhelming power compared to the other Asian countries taking part.
I would like to comment that this championship was managed by the sponsoring association, the Chinese Gateball Association, and the People's Government of Minhang District of Shanghai. And it was brought to a successful conclusion through cooperation from the Shanghai Municipal Sports Bureau and the wonderful behind-the-scenes support of many volunteers. I would like to express my appreciation to those people who lent their support and helped make this championship a success.
I would also like to ask that you all continue to show this wonderful support for the next championship planned to be held in 4 years time, in 2004.

2000年10月29日〜31日の3日間に亘って、「第3回アジアゲートボール選手権大会」が開催されました。
アジアNo.1を目指ざし、中華人民共和国上海市の上海市閔行区曲棍球場に6つの国と地域(日本・韓国・シンガポール・チャイニーズタイペイ・中国香港・中国)から170チーム、1,194名の選手が集結いたしました。
大会期間中は、あいにく小雨混じりの天気でしたが、中国での開催にふさわしい盛大で華やかな演出が、大会を盛り上げていました。
見事アジアチャンピオンの座に輝いたのは、30歳代のメンバーを揃え、抜群の技術力を見せた福建省(中国)チームでした。また、開催国という地の利を生かした中国勢がベスト8を独占し、アジア各国に圧倒的な強さを見せつけました。
今大会は、主管団体である中国門球協会、上海市閔行区人民政府の運営により行われ、上海市体育局そして大会を影で支えてくれたボランティアの皆さんのご協力もあり、おかげさまをもちまして無事成功裡に終了することができました。
また、4年後の2004年に開催されます次回大会に向け、更なるご支援を賜りますようお願い申し上げます。
