●和船コーナー
江戸時代の経済を飛躍的に発展させた海運の主力である弁才船を中心に、古代から中世、近世へと、その時代の経済的・風土的条件に対応して独自に発達した和船の歴史を展示紹介しています。
●マリタイムサルーン
柳原良平氏のイラストによる、船の歴史年表を眺めながらご休憩いただけます。
●ラジコン船コーナー
客船や貨物船、巡視船などの模型船を浮かべて、船長になった気分でラジコン船の操縦を楽しむことができます。(有料)
●海をわたる
6万トン級の客船を模した船の科学館の6Fには、本当の船と同じように、指令室ともいうべきブリッジを再現しました。ここには、自分で操船を試すことのできる操船シミュレーションを設けたほか、6万トン客船のブリッジを模して、各種の航海機器などがセットしてあります。
●展望室
高さ70mの展望室からは、東京港内を行き来するさまざまな船はもちろんのこと、360度の視界で東京港の全貌と臨海副都心と大東京の街並みを見渡すことができます。
Japanese Boats
Japanese boats have developed with the economic and climatic conditions of ancient, middle and modern times. A history of Japanese boats is on display, centering on the payload trading vessels that dominated marine transportation and contributed to the advance of the economy in the Edo period.
Maritime Saloon
While relaxing in the saloon, visitors can view the chronological charts of ship history illustrated by the famous illustrator Ryohei Yanagihara.
Radio-Controlled Boat Corner
Here, one can enjoy acting as a captain of a ship and piloting radio-controlled boats, including replicas of passenger ships, freight ships, and patrol boats (admission fee charged).
Sailing the Seas
This exhibit includes a replica of a ship's bridge, the commander's room of a ship, located where an actual bridge would be in the 60.000-ton passenger ship on which the Museum of Maritime Science is modeled. The bridge is equipped with a self-piloting simulator and a variety of navigational instruments that would be found on such a passenger ship.
Observatory
The observatory, from an elevation of 70 meters, provides a view of the different boats entering and leaving Tokyo Bay. Offering a full 360-degree view, visitors are able to enjoy a splendid vista of the bay area as well as of the shore area of Tokyo and of the greater Tokyo region.
