6. People on the Right Track to Fluency

How and through what process do students become fluent in esophageal speech?

Mr. Tanada of the Ginrei-Kai, who is in charge of instructing advanced students, describes three types of students moving toward an advanced level of fluency in terms of the length of learning:

Type 1:

"Some people suddenly get the knack of esophageal speech following six months or a year of struggle. All of a sudden, one day, it just seems to happen. It should not be forgotten that they had, behind that success, a long period of trial and errors as well as hard work."

Type 2:

"Some people progress rapidly without a hitch through beginner's, intermediate, and advanced studies, to a highly proficient level. These students have, it seems to me, practiced esophageal speech with a great deal of enthusiasm and fighting spirit from the start.

"Some of them acquired an inhalation technique at an early stage."
