(3) Publication of Marine Accidents and Judgments periodical
This periodical summarizes the operations and research into marine accidents conducted by the association. In fiscal 1998, the association published three issues, which were distributed to regular association members, relevant government ministries and agencies and maritime-related organizations.
(4) Other activities
The association puts out bulletins on judgments pronounced on serious marine accidents, as well as produces videos and holds seminars and other events to promote measures aimed at marine accident prevention. In fiscal 1998, the association released two videos: one titled "Engine Trouble" and one a compilation of its four previously released videos, and organized seminars in Tokyo and three other cities.
When a judgment is pronounced on a serious marine accident, the association immediately prepares a report summarizing the judgment for release, together with the relevant chart, for distribution to maritime-related organizations and relevant government ministries and agencies. In fiscal 1998, no serious marine accidents came before the inquiry court, so no such reports were prepared.
