Association of Maritime Education & Training Institutions in Asia Pacific
4th Annual General Meeting,Tokyo,9 Dec '99
EXECUIIVE COMMITIEE'S REPORT: MEMBERSHIP
The List of Members (By Country) as at 1 December 1999 is in AGM4/3/2 Att A.
The increase in ordinary membership from 35 at the time of AGM3 to the current 47, with nine more institutions expressing interest, continues to be very encouraging. With an increase of from 4 to 5, associate membership is not as healthy however and a greater marketing effort is required if this category is to grow. There are no business members.
Both newsletters issued during 1999 were also sent to interested parties together with covering letters of invitation. The July newsletter was sent to 79 interested parties (55 providers of maritime education and training which are potential ordinary members and 24 non-providers which are potential associate and business members). Only a few responses were received.
Efforts to increase the membership will continue.
