IMO-AMETIAP Cooperation
Draft Memorandum of Agreement and Proposal for Cooperation in 2000-2001
In recognition of the requirements of the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers 1978, as amended in 1995, as well as of other conventions and regulations, it is agreed that during 2000 and 2001:
・the Association of Maritime Education and Training Institutions in Asia Pacific(AMETIAP) will assist the International Maritime Organisation(IMO) to develop maritime education and training in the Asia Pacific Region; cooperation will include the conduct of workshops, the nomination of consultants, the revision of model courses and proposals to improve the delivery of education and training to seafarers;
・where the International Maritime Organisation is not able to provide the resources needed for appropriate activities, it will assist AMETIAP to obtain such resources.
