財団法人日本音楽財団は、日本における音楽文化の振興と、音楽分野における国際交流を目的として数々の事業を推進しております。そのうちの一つであるこの演奏会事業は、世界で著名な音楽家の演奏をクラシック音楽を愛好する多くの方々に安価でお届けすることを目的としております。
チェリスト、ヤーノシュ・シュタルケル氏は、20世紀最高の演奏家の一人として国際的に高く評価されており、当財団の主要国際事業である弦楽器名器を貸与する事業の委員を務めていただいております。今宵はシュタルケル氏の卓越した演奏技術、それに培われた豊かな音楽性とチェロの響きをごゆっくりご鑑賞ください。

It is a great pleasure to be able to host "Janos Starker Cello Recital" this evening.
This is in an attempt for the Nippon Music Foundation to achieve one of its goal, to provide the general public in Japan access to musical performances of the highest quality at a reasonable price.
Professor Janos Starker is highly regarded as one of the greatest maestros of the 20th century. Professor Starker is also one of the core members of the Nippon Music Foundation's Loan Committee. At present, our Foundation owns eleven Stradivarius and two Guarneri del Gesu stringed instruments and this Loan Committee decide to whom these instruments are to be loaned. We are very proud to be able to present this opportunity for you to listen to his masterly performance this evening. We are certain that you will enjoy Professor Starker's rich musical virtuosity.
