1950年、8才でリサイタルを開く。桐朋学園で故・斎藤秀雄に師事し、1956年に文化放送賞、1957年に第26回日本音楽コンクール1位及び特別賞を受賞。
1961年、アメリカ・インディアナ大学に留学し、ヤーノシュ・シュタルケル氏に師事。1963年ミュンヘン国際コンクールで2位、カザルス国際コンクールで1位を受賞。以後、本格的な演奏活動を始め世界各地に定期的に招かれ、世界の主要なオーケストラと数多く共演している。
第2回サントリー音楽賞、ウジェーヌ・イザイ・メダル、芸術祭放送大賞、第7回有馬賞及びモービル賞等を受賞。また、レコード録音の際の優れた演奏に対し2度にわたり芸術祭優秀賞を受賞。1993年日本芸術院賞を受賞。1988年より、インディアナ大学教授の他、桐朋学園大学客員教授として後進の指導にもあたる。
With the U.S.A. as his base, Prof. Tsuyoshi TSUTSUMI is representing Japan in his activities as a cellist. He gave his first recital in 1950 at the age of eight and studied under Prof. Hideo Saito at Toho Gakuen School of Music. He won the Bunka-Hoso Prize in 1956, and the 1st prize and a special award at the 26th Music Competition of Japan in 1957.
In 1961 he studied under the guidance of Prof. Janos Starker at Indiana University, in 1963 he was a prize winner at the Munich International Music Competition and won the 1st prize at the Casals International Competition. With these successes, his career took off, and he has since performed regularly all over the world with several of the world's major orchestras.
Prof. Tsuyoshi TSUTSUMI has won many prizes, including the 2nd Suntory Music Prize, the Eugene Ysaye Medal, the Arts Festival Broadcasting Grand Prix, the 7th Arima Prize and the Mobil Prize. In 1993 he was awarded the Japan Academy Award. Furthermore, he has twice received the Arts Festival Award of Excellence for his recordings. Since 1988 he is a professor at Indiana University, and is also a visiting Professor at Toho Gakuen School of Music.
1953年、ポーランド・グダンスク生まれ。幼少よりヴァイオリンを習い、ワルシャワでゼノン・ブジェフスキー氏、イレーナ・ドゥビシュカ氏に師事。更に、フライブルグでヴォルフガング・マルシュナー氏に、ロンドンでイフラ・ニーマン氏に師事する。
シュポア及びモントリオールのコンクールで入賞し、1977年シマノフスキー・コンクール、1984年ライプチッヒ・コンクールで1位入賞。国際的に高名なヴァイオリニストであると同時に、ハノーヴァー音楽アカデミー教授を勤める。更に、ヨーロッパ、アメリカ、アジアでマスタークラスを開講する。
1955年、グダンスク国際ヴァイオリン・ワークショップの芸術監督となる。
大阪、ヴィェニャスキ、サラサーテ、クライスラー、ストラデバリ等の国際ヴァイオリン・コンクール、国際室内楽コンクールの審査委員を勤める。
ハノーヴァー国際ヴァイオリン・コンクールの創設者であり、現在その芸術監督。
Born in 1953 in Gdansk / Poland, Prof. Krzysztof WEGRZYN began playing the violin at an early age, and studied with Zenon Brzewski and Irena Dubiska in Warsaw, Wolfgang Marschner in Freiburg and Yfrah Neaman in London, winning prizes at the Spohr and Montreal Competitions and winning the Szymanowski (1977) and Lipizer (1984) Competitions.
Today, Prof. Krzysztof WEGRZYN - an internationally known concert artist - is himself a Professor at the Hanover Music Academy and gives master-classes in Europe, the U.S.A. and Asia. In 1995 he became Artistic Director of the Gdansk International Violin Workshops.
He has served in many juries of prestigious violin and chamber music competitions, including the Osaka, Wieniawski, Sarasate. Kreisler and Stradivari Competitions. Prof. Krzysztof WEGRZYN is the Founder and Artistic Director of the Hanover International Violin Competition.
